GWPC under 16's vs Rotherham 12th June 2016

It was like Grantham town vs Manchester United as Rotherham put out a strong team against a young Grantham side.

Despite a tough start the team started to get the measure of a dominant Rotherham team. The Rotherham defence were really strong and made it tough for the Grantham team to get shots on goal. Richard Earley scored two cracking long range goals and Noah Clegg took the same approach, which shows that all that training has not been wasted. Alex and Jack followed up with a goal a piece. Krzysztoff really played a blinding game and stopped some fierce shots that made me cringe. Sadie, Georgia, Lily and Alex played through the centre and made a lot of strong attempts at breaking down the Rotherham defence. Cameron took the left wing as his own, he showed strong resilience against must bigger players.

Many thanks to Rotherham for playing this fixture and thanks to Joe, the coach who worked really hard with the team. A baptism of fire for sure.

We have a great team who support each other through thick and thin, they are a credit to our club.

Final score 23 Rotherham, 6 Grantham.
